Your family wedding is your big day! For many couples, this means starting from the first step by picking the right custom envelopes for the invitations, choosing the wedding rings to end by focusing on the bride and the groom.
However, for those couples out there with kids of their own already, you know how much it needs to be a family affair. You want your kids involved, but you also want to enjoy the classic wedding day experience. Thankfully, you don’t have to sacrifice one over the other.
There are many ways to make your wedding family-friendly so that your kids have as great a time as you do, this can be possible. Let’s explore…
How to Plan The Perfect Family-Friendly Wedding
Get Your Kids Involved with the Wedding Ceremony
If your kids are old enough, then there are many ways that they can be involved with the wedding ceremony. You can have your children walk down with you down the aisle, or you can even include your children in your vows (a vow to be a great parent and a great partner). For younger children that won’t yet understand, however, it’s important to keep them comfortable. They can definitely be involved in the ceremony, but try to keep their involvement in short bursts so that they don’t get uncomfortable or bored. This way, everyone enjoys the experience!
Have Kid-Friendly Food, Snacks, and Drinks
When you have a family-friendly wedding, your guests are likely welcome to bring their own kids as guests. This is a great way to make the entire event that much better, but that doesn’t mean you should overspend to do it. Most children won’t enjoy the food you’d choose for your reception dinner, and that’s okay! Just have kid-friendly food for them to enjoy instead. It doesn’t have to be fancy. You could even order pizza for the event and have it served on fancy platters for a beautiful wedding look that definitely hits the spot in your kids’ tummies.
Have Activities and Games for Kids and Adults
There should be a big mix of things to do for adults, kids, and for everyone. This way, you can let your kids be kids while you enjoy having fun with adults, and so that you also have time all together as a family. If your wedding is outdoors, for example, there are many great outdoor events and games that the whole wedding party can enjoy. Then you can also rent some toys and other games for the kids to enjoy on their own, away from the adults while the adults enjoy time with their friends, too. Hire wedding entertainment to set the tone during the wedding reception. It’s the best of both worlds and how you can enjoy a wonderful day with the whole family.
