Before you go ahead and start making the transition from baby nursery to a toddler’s bedroom, here are some décor and design elements you may want to include.
Transitioning From A Nursery To A Toddler’s Bedroom
As your child starts to grow out of the baby phase and into their toddler years, there are a number of changes you’ll likely need to make around the house.
These take into account their increased level of mobility, and their beautiful personality starting to shine through!
Larger toys that they will likely start to play with take over the the baby items.
But perhaps one of the biggest changes you’ll make is giving them a “big kid” design that will have them loving their room.
Install A Cosy Carpet
When you think about how mobile your toddler is, you’re probably also very aware of how often they fall, stumble, and just plain pop down on the ground.
Ideally, you want to have a nice soft and cushiony surface for them to land on, and even to play on when they are on the floor.
What that means is that carpeting is probably the best flooring material for their room. Visit local carpet stores to find a carpet that will suit the design and aesthetics of your kid’s room.
Carpeting adds warmth to a room.
It makes it more comfortable for them when walking and playing on the ground. Of course, it can also be used as a really fun design element.
Include Plenty Of Kid-Friendly Storage In Your Toddler’s Bedroom
The next must-have feature in their room should be kid-friendly storage.
Just think about all the toys and stuff your child has. Without enough storage space, it will quickly start to take over an entire room!
Ideally, you want storage that is easy enough for a child to access. Perfect for them to get what they want out, and also put it away on their own.
This could include a variety of things such as a slim nightstand with drawers, under-the-bed storage bins, a wardrobe, shelves, and more.
You can actually get pretty creative where storage is concerned.
Another tip is to add labels to all the storage spaces and slots. This helps children know exactly where things are stored when not in use.
Choose A Colour Palette That Reflects Your Child’s Personality
You also want to choose a colour palette that reflects your child’s personality. It may even be in the form of a theme.
This colour palette or theme can then be carried through when you choose the paint, wall decals, lighting, playroom wall art such as posters, and even the linen.
Create A Reading Nook
Encouraging your child to read is always important.
Why not set them up for success by creating a reading nook in their room.
This can include a bookshelf, a comfy chair, and ample lighting.
A Toddler’s Bedroom To Call Their Own
Keep in mind that at the end of the day, you aren’t designing a room for yourself.
You are creating a space that reflects your toddler’s needs and their own personality. You might also like ideas for your baby’s nursery – you can customise it according to your space and choice.

Haha! The palette or theme you end up choosing may still be subconsciously influenced by the colors they usually gravitate towards. ?

These are great ideas! It can be very challenging transitioning from nursery to toddler’s room. Toddlers are more active so you need to ensure that it is safe for them.
