We were recently sent the Chocolate Emoji Maker by Zimpli Kids (the makers of the awesome fun Gelli Baff) to try out, and we had a great afternoon making fun faces out of chocolate!

Chocolate Emoji Maker Unboxing
Firstly, the box is nice and bright, and quite compact.
It contains 6 sachets of chocolate, 2 each of white, milk and dark.
There are two plastic trays, an instruction booklet and a sheet of emoji face designs.
The designs are ranked from easy, medium to hard, plus you can download some more online.
We steered clear of the hard ones!

Chocolate Emoji Maker Instructions
I’m terrible at concentrating on instructions – usually because my tiny terrors are running around whilst I am trying to concentrate!
Though text-heavy, these instructions are actually easy to follow; the pictures helped my lack of attention span.

Step 1 – Melt The Chocolate
You pour some warm (not boiling) water into a bowl or tub and add a bag of milk, dark and white chocolate to it.
This is great – no hob, hot water or danger!
Step 2 – Choose Your Emoji Maker Design
Whilst the chocolate is melting, choose a design and cut it out using the guides.
Place the emoji face underneath the plastic tray.
Step 3 – You’re Ready For Dark
Once melted, take the dark chocolate pack and snip the smallest little corner off so you can squeeze the chocolate out of the bag onto the black lines and areas of the emoji face.
Step 4 – Now For White
Now do the same with the white chocolate, and fill the white areas of the emoji.
Step 5 – Cover With Milk
Once the dark and white chocolate are on the plastic tray, take the milk choc out of the water and snip a larger hold in the corner of the pack.
Cover the entire tray with milk chocolate.
Step 6 – Refrigerate
Put the tray in the fridge until it’s set enough to pop it out of the tray.
Step 7 – Congratulate Yourself
Admire your emoji face.
Step 8 – YUM!
Eat your emoji face.
It’s delicious!

What We Thought Of The Chocolate Emoji Maker by Zimpi Kids
Like all Zimpi Kids products, the Chocolate Emoji Maker is super fun, messy and hands on!
The age range for this product is 4+.
I would say that unless your child is a genius in the steady hand department, a perfect emoji face is out of the question – it certainly was in our case.
Our first attempt out of the two faces in our pack was more like a Jackson Pollock!
And, I found it hard to get the lines perfect, but I don’t think I had melted the chocolate enough.
Tasted the same, though, and was just as fun.
I wrongly assumed that the chocolate was going to be that nasty chocolate that you get in cheap advent calendars, but it was actually delicious!
So tasty in fact, that I squeezed every last drop out of the packet as to not waste any!
