Why Is Cleaning And Maintenance Important For Glass Showers and Windows
If you do not take good care of glass, it tends to lose the elegant and bright look very quickly.
Bathroom water can form a chemical reaction with soap and create lots of hard water spots.
The visible soap scum, water stains and spots can make the entire bathroom look unclean.
Daily maintenance can prevent your beloved glass from turning cloudy, because if you don’t maintain it often, the water spots are hard to remove.
There are some very simple products for cleaning scum and hard spots off glass. Here are a few of my favourite DIY methods for cleaning glass.
Cleaning Hacks For Glass Showers And Windows
What’s great about these cleaning hacks is that you can make the cleaning materials at home very easily. Here are a few of my tried tested cleaning ingredients and methods.
White Vinegar
White vinegar is an essential element for glass door cleaning.
White vinegar is an amazing, natural alternative to commercial cleaners.
The cleaning process is also very easy!
Take a spray bottle.
Mix warm white vinegar and washing up liquid in equal measures.
Spray the vinegar mixture on the surface you want to clean.
Leave it for a few seconds and wipe off using a soft cloth.
Baking Soda Isn’t Just For Baking
Take a good amount of baking soda and adequate water to make a thick paste.
Take around half a cup of baking soda and mix a thick paste with some water. That should be enough for one glass shower door.
Rub the paste on the glass surface and wait a minimum of 20 minutes.
Rinse off with vinegar to get the best results.
Pro tip: be careful with the use of vinegar if you have travertine or stone in the shower.
Try Ammonia
If you see heavy scum on the glass surface that you’re finding hard to budget, you can try this method.
Make a mixture of ammonia and water, maintaining a ratio of 1:3.
Place the mixture in a spray bottle and spray onto the scummy glass.
Rub the surface when it is still damp, then wipe off with soft cloth or sponge.
You will get a streak-free gleam on the glass, trust me.
Save Money On Cleaning Products By Making Your Own
The above methods are very easy to perform and the materials are cheap.
The cost is almost the same as household products you can buy in a supermarket, but I think they are much more affective.
However, if you’re not into DIY cleaning products, you can get some amazing cleaning products on the cheap too.
